KLI Senior Post-Doc Fellow Anne Le Maître presented a talk about her work at the Symposium of the Network of French Researchers in Austria, which was hosted by the French Embassy in Vienna on 22 May 2025. This symposium was held on the occasion of the France Alumni Day, an event organised in May and June across the world to bring together alumni of French universities, and celebrate the laureates of research fellowships and scholarships for long stays in France.
In her talk, “Evolutionary biology – Evolvability of the ear in primates”, Anne explained how understanding the relationships between ear morphology and primate ecology and behaviour provides insights into more general evolutionary processes related to the capacity for adaptive evolution, namely evolvability. 13 other researchers presented their work at this event, on topics as diverse as philosophy of religions, climate science, quantum physics, political sciences, developmental biology or fluid mechanics.
This multidisciplinary symposium brought together the network of French researchers in Austria, comprising roughly 100 researchers, from public and private institutions, and is coordinated by the Department for Scientific and University Cooperation at the Institut français in Austria. This symposium was followed by a reception introduced by Matthieu Peyraud, the Ambassador of France in Austria.
